Less is sometimes more!

Today for some time once again explain how the accompanying picture was taken and processed was!

As its title of the post suggests, it is this is a recording with relatively few resources . And so it was! Was used a single light source !
Oh the picture that I am curious ...? Why not a model! Well one just has not always been a spontaneous model available, or has time. Of course it would have been a better solution, because as a model, I do not own me so real!
But that was not right! Primarily focused on the education and training of my assistant, not the excellent photo's. Technical refinement and error analysis were at the forefront!

This has arisen as far as the background, to what extent the picture!

camera settings: ISO 100, 1/125sec, f 8.0

The case is set main light was based on the desired effect we record! We wanted both a relatively hard, but not too hard illumination! Therefore came to us the Dish than light formers in question! That we are slightly above added by me as a model to a drop shadow to generate the image and thus give the image depth!

The strength of the flash, we have a working aperture of 8.0 f are measured as the background in the image should be sharp!

Who looked closely, which recognizes no reflections on the glasses of the flash can be seen. But how is this possible ...
This is relatively easy ... Flash installed simply click!

For something harder, or even spotartigere illumination lighting, I recommend using a comb on Dish, or maybe even a tube ! The honeycomb directs the light, but creates a even greater brightness gradient on the model. That was with us but not necessary, because the flash was relatively close to the model and this went so came about anyway!

At the end, the processed image :
The light falloff was further elaborated by means of Photoshop to the viewer's attention even more strongly in the direction of the face. Through the Black and White conversion was dramatized by the image of my thoughts on and captivates the viewer!

Kind regards Micha
